Conditions of Entry - McDonald's Community Matters Award

1. Information on how to enter and claim prizes forms part of these conditions of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these conditions of entry.

2. Entry is only open to Australian residents aged 18 and over. Employees of the Promoter, of McDonald's Australia Limited, its franchisees, agencies and other entities associated with this competition, together with the immediate families and members of the households of those persons, are not eligible to enter.

3. This competition commences at 9am on 15/10/07 and closes on 01/02/08 at 5pm.

4. To enter your nominated community hero ("Nominee"), you must:

(a) complete an original entry form with your details, details of the Nominee and details of a referee in support of your entry and the Nominee;

(b) prepare an original written submission of up to 500 words about the Nominee, explaining why you think the Nominee is an unsung community hero, with reference to the judging criteria detailed below; and

(c) mail your completed entry form, together with your written submission, to "McDonald's Community Matters Award" PO Box 131 Eastern Suburbs MC NSW 2004.

Only original and correctly completed entries will be valid.

5. Entry forms are available in the "Community Matters" supplement, featured in New Idea (cover date 20/10/07 and 15/12/07), Betters Homes and Gardens (cover date 01/08) and That's Life Magazine (cover date 16/01/07).

6. All validly entered Nominees will be judged no later than 18/01/08 on the following criteria:

(a) The Nominee's efforts in making a significant and positive impact on a group or individual in the Nominee's local area;

(b)How the Nominee has demonstrated that he/she has encouraged, supported and nurtured that group pr individual; and

(c) How the Nominee's time and involvement has been given willingly and selflessly in relation to (1) and (2).

Equal weight will be given to each of the 3 judging criteria. The Promoter's decisions on all matters pertaining to this competition are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

7. The 4 Nominees that are judged to be the best according to the 3 judging criteria will win a Prize. The Prize is $1,000.00. The total value of all prizes is $4,000.00. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable.

8. The 4 winners will be notified by mail by 28/1/08. The winners will also be published in New Idea (cover date 05/04/08) and That's Life (cover date 09/04/08) and posted on the Better Homes and Gardens website www.bhg.com.au on 05/04/08.

9. Winners will be required to sign a release in a form to be determined at the discretion of the Promoter. 

10. The 4 winners will be featured in a future issue of "Community Matters" with a photo shoot and story.

11. All entries become the property of the Promoter. The Promoter does not accept responsibility for late, lost or misdirected mail.

12. The claiming and collection of the Prizes by the winners will be subject to verification checks in the absolute discretion of the Promoter.

13. If a Prize remains unclaimed as at 30/4/08, the Promoter may select such further winner as is necessary, in order to distribute the Prize.

14. The personal information ("PI") of the entrants is collected to enable the promoter to administer this competition. The PI of the entrants, except the PI of the winners, will be destroyed after all of the prizes have been claimed by the winners. The winners' PI will be retained by the Promoter for only as long as required by law. In certain circumstances, the winners' PI may be provided to regulatory authorities upon request.

15. The winners agree to participate and co-operate as required by the Promoter and/or McDonald's Australia Limited, in all editorial activities and other publicity and promotional purpose relating to this competition, including but not limited to the use of their name, interviews and photographs. The winners grant to the Promoter and to McDonald's Australia Limited and its franchisees, a perpetual and non-exclusive licence to use such footage and photographs in all media worldwide, without payment of a fee for such use.

16. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter, its employees and agents shall not be liable for any claims, losses, damages, injuries, costs and expenses suffered, sustained or incurred (including but not limited to indirect or consequential) as a result of, or arising out of, or in any way connected with this Promotion and/or its Prizes.
